Letter From the President
The Club recently celebrated its second year of operation at the Walter Denney Youth Center at Harbor Point. In March 2003, when we assumed management of the Denney Center, membership had dwindled to just a handful of youth. By refurbishing the facility, providing dedicated and caring staff and offering a full range of programs, we have already increased membership to over 400 children and teens... Click for More

Celebrating Black History With The Celtics & Amtrak
February is Black History Month, a four-week-long celebration of African American contributions to the American intellectual, cultural and political mainstream. This year, on February 15, a group of 10-12 year olds from the Colonel Daniel Marr Boys and Girls Club took part in a unique celebration honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. The Boston Celtics and Amtrak joined forces to create an interactive event, Promote the Quote 2005, which brought Dr. King’s inspirational words to life for Club kids... Club Mourns Nyhan’s Passing
The Club recently lost a good friend. Former Boston Globe columnist David Nyhan passed away suddenly in January. A highly respected newspaperman, David was above all a man of the people. He received his introduction to the Colonel Daniel Marr Boys and Girls Club more than ten years ago when he joined a group of Globe colleagues and Club staff for a basketball game in the Club gym...
