Spring 06

Remember the excitement you felt in June when school was about to let out for the summer! Recall the sense of joy you had knowing the next ten weeks were going to be a fun filled adventure! Here at the Marr Club we are gearing up to offer our kids a summer that is fun and provides new experiences for our members of all ages. Along with the programs we offer year-round, our kids will go on lots of field trips to both local attractions and far off destinations including the Franklin Park Zoo, Red Sox games, weekends on the Cape and much more!
Our members will also have travel opportunities they would not otherwise experience if not for the thoughtful gifts of our special friends. In August, 86 Club members will visit Walt Disney World. This trip is made possible by Don Rodman and the Rodman Ride for Kids. This is our 15th year going to Disney and yet it is always a unique trip each time we bring a new group of kids. This is also the inaugural summer of Camp Northbound; we can’t wait to bring 150 members to the Maine wilderness! Thanks to the kindness of two families, the Tatelmans and Wahlbergs, our kids, many of whom have never left the city, will enjoy a wonderful camping experience.
We are also helping to make this summer a great one for our teens. Together with the Boston Youth Fund, the Private Industry Council and Corcoran Jennison’s “Real World” internship program, we will provide jobs for over 100 teens. Safe Summer Streets is back, too. When not working, our teens can play ball, swim, nurture an artistic talent or just hang out with their friends. Our goal is to make sure our members have a safe place, away from the temptations of the street, where they can come to be with friends and adults who take an interest in their well-being.
The summer of 2006 is shaping up to be our best yet!
